Whimsy in Sculpture: Intro to Representational Ceramic Art

March 1 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$90.00

In collaboration with Artspace:

Unleash your imagination and dive into the world of whimsical sculpture! In this hands-on workshop with artist Lora Bright House, you’ll explore the art of combining fantastical creatures with everyday objects to create playful, unexpected, and magical scenes. Whether it’s a tiny creature perched atop a teapot, or a mischievous figure interacting with an everyday tool, you’ll learn how to transform the mundane into something full of personality and wonder. Guided by the spirit of mischief and surprise, you’ll learn ceramic building techniques and explore ideas to bring these quirky beings to life.

This workshop is divided into two parts, with the first part devoted to exploring and building, and the second to glazing. Whether you’re a beginner or just looking to refine your skills, this workshop provides a supportive environment to experiment and express your ideas. By the end, participants will leave with a completed sculpture and gain the confidence to continue their artistic journey with clay. The workshop will take place from 1-4pm on BOTH March 1 and March 8.

Artspace, your host for this event, is a non-profit visual arts center located in Downtown Raleigh. Visit Artspace for a multitude of exhibitions featuring national and local artists and to enjoy a community of more than 35 artists working in studio, artists in residence, and to find other art classes for all ages and abilities.
