Plein Air Drawing Workshop with Oami Powers (ages 16+)

Immerse yourself in the serene art of plein air drawing where you’ll explore the beauty of outdoor landscapes through the medium of graphite. Led by experienced artist Oami Powers, you’ll learn essential techniques to capture light, shadow, and natural textures directly from nature. Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned artist, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to hone your observational skills and connect with the environment around you. Join us for a day of creativity, inspiration, and artistic growth in the open air. Location for the workshop: JC Raulston Arboretum

About the artist

Oami Powers is an American figurative artist whose expressive, gestural ceramic sculptures and drawings delve into themes of memory, nostalgia, grief, addiction, understanding of home and self. Raised in California and New Zealand, she has now lived in North Carolina for over a decade. Powers graduated from the University of Canterbury with a B.A. in Art History and Classical Studies and has studied with Cristina Cordova, Zoe Durfour, Alia El-Bermani and Felicia Forte.
