We are further from where our food comes from than ever, but rediscovery is just a connection away…
In collaboration with Half-A-Barn Farm:
Are you ready to raise chickens but are not sure where to start? Do you already have chickens but still have questions? Or maybe you just love chickens and want to spend some time with them and learn more about them…
Join us for an afternoon learning the basics of backyard chicken care. We’ll cover topics from the purchase and care of baby chicks, coop building and maintenance, and daily care, to wing clipping, diseases, and chicken behaviors. You will have the opportunity to get hand-on experience with our own flock!
This workshop will be led by micro farm experts Gabriel and Tia Adams. Their agricultural journey began when they bought their first house and found six small garden beds, unused and full of potential, waiting for them in the backyard. They started small but eventually that same backyard became the home to numerous plants and even their first flock of chickens.
Many years later, they now have two daughters and a homestead with a large garden, a greenhouse, a blueberry field, fruit and nut trees, as well as a flock of laying hens, meat chickens, ducks, and rabbits, and much more to come. They love what they do and are passionate about helping the community around them learn more and discover their own passion for growing and discovering food independence!
