Remember that mothers love beer too!
Treat the mother in your life to an afternoon of beer and cider in the Whitaker Mill Road/Old Wake Forest Road neighborhood.
The tour will include 2-3 tastings at three beer and cider venues in the neighborhood. As we go along, you’ll learn about North Carolina’s craft beer industry, how beer and cider are made, and what makes these Raleigh establishments unique.
We’ll begin our stroll where we plan to end the journey, at the corner of Pershing Road across from Neuse River Brewing, a block with lots of on-street parking. This way, your car will be nearby when we finish up at our last brewery. We’ll walk about a mile to Lynnwood Brewing Concern for some tastings and appetizers. Then, we’ll visit Raleigh’s first cidery – East Bower Cider Co. — to taste ciders made from local apples.
Next, we’ll walk back to where we started (again about a mile) to taste Neuse River beers at our final stop. You may be having so much fun that you’ll want to stay for dinner (Tip: reservations for dinner are a good idea)
Your guide is Natalie Hampton, owner of Taps & Corks Tours. Natalie has been writing about North Carolina beer and wine for 12 years on the Tarheel Taps & Corks blog. She enjoys sharing her passion for North Carolina beer through walking tours, and always looks forward to winter seasonal beers and ciders.
Note: You must be 21 to participate. Tour is rain or shine. Wear good shoes for walking and clothing appropriate for the weather – we’ll be outside for at least part of our exploration. Plan to arrive at the brewery about 10 minutes early to park at Loading Dock and locate the group. Parking can be challenging, so plan accordingly.
