Beginners Blacksmithing at Cherry Mountain Farm

April 13 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

$22.50 – $45.00

Try out a timeless craft and take home a timeless piece of your own…

In collaboration with Cherry Mountain Farm and General Store:

Led by Night Owl Iron Works, this experience features two different workshop options where you will learn basic forging techniques and leave with a product that can last for generations.

Focusing on functionality and attention to detail Night Owl Iron Works has continued to grow their artistry thanks to a renewed interest in this beautiful and historic craft.

Jordon Jackson, founder of Night Owl, will guide you through either workshop with each one beginning with a group lesson on basic forging techniques followed by some one-on-one time with the forge to create your individual piece:

Forge your own J-Hook ; 10am – Noon
Each one-on-one session will last approximately 10 minutes.  Each participant will leave with their fully finished and usable j-hook which can be used indoor/outdoor.

Forge your own Horseshoe Knife ; 1pm – 4pm
Each session will last approximately 30 minutes. Each participant will leave with their fully finished horseshoe knife.

While waiting for your turn on the forge you’ll be free to check out the farm, peruse the store, or grab a bite from a local food truck!

Night Owl Iron Works was established in 2016 by Jordan Jackson handling the smithing and by his wife Rachel Jackson handling the leather working. Focusing on traditional blacksmith techniques and working with the local community, Night Owl has found great success providing quality, handmade products for businesses and individuals alike.

In June of 2021, Jordan even won the Forged in Fire Championship on The History Channel’s special episode, “Forge of Fear”

After the workshop, take a stroll around the farm to see the friendly Kune Kune pigs, goats, dogs, and horse that call Cherry Mountain Farm home and definitely don’t forget to do a little shopping at the on-site general store which is bursting with all kinds of goodies, gifts, and knick knacks.

Craig and Debbi have over a decade of experience as farmers and have put a lot of love and care into what they do.
