A high density apple orchard with over 3000 trees but only three “knuckleheads”…
In collaboration with TK Family Farm:
Stroll the farmer’s market and then get lost in the magic of an orchard dripping with apples and the sweet family that keeps everything growing!
You’ll get to walk through and shop various vendors at this Fall farmer’s market on-site before you meet Jon and Brittany Klimstra, the hardworking couple that founded TK Family Farms. They will take you on a complete tour of their farm including an exploration of the packing house, a stroll through the orchard, and a ton of information on what they grow and more importantly why they grow apples the way they do.
Less than a decade ago, Jon was working for the US Fish and Wildlife Service as a waterfowl biologist and Brittany was in technical food sales. However, at the birth of their second and third child (TWINS) they quickly realized that they wanted to be closer to home and family. A farm was something they had always talked about and soon the decision was made to return to NC and begin planting.
Lovingly named after their three children, aka the “Three Knuckleheads” in 2016 they created TK Family Farm and planted the county’s first high density apple orchard. It has since been expanded to include around 2.5 acres with over 3,000 trees!
*This experience includes a half peck of apples to taste and take home along with the opportunity to shop at their farm market for some of their homemade cider.
