Foray into Forging – Blacksmithing Workshop at ShopSpace

Visit ShopSpace, a nonprofit, community oriented workshop located right outside of downtown Raleigh that was created by people who love crafts, especially metal and wood work. Their mission is to share that passion and empower individuals to connect with themselves and each other through creation.
This is an incredible opportunity to experience the heat and clang of forging in a safe and supportive environment. Intro to Blacksmithing workshop is for all skill levels, no experience needed! In this workshop you will be introduced to the basic blacksmithing techniques of hammering, tapering, cutting, bending, and twisting. Then, using these techniques and a propane forge, you will heat a piece of iron to bright orange and with anvil, hammer, and tongs create a decorative and useful pair of wall hooks.
