Discover the unique process of turning goat milk and tallow into quality soap…
In collaboration with The Wool Family Farm and Pace Family Farms:
Two incredible local farms are partnering together to bring you a special, hands-on experience learning a timeless process.
Led by farmer and soap making expert Evelyn Wool of The Wool Family Farm, she will guide you through the process of both milk-based and tallow-based soap making. You’ll learn how to render tallow from fat, how to estimate your yield, and how to make both types of soap before going home with a “limited edition” gift box set of soap branded just for this workshop! This set includes a bar of tallow-based goat milk soap from Pace Family Farms beef tallow and a lard-based goat milk soap from The Wool Family Farm’s Mangalista lard.
A little bit about these awesome farms…
In 2010, Robert Wool was hand-digging a pit for a water feature when a vision struck his wife, Evelyn, of their family on a beautiful farm surrounded by nature. When Evelyn shared her vision with Robert, she expected him to scoff and tell her it was a silly dream but instead, Robert looked up at her and said “Let’s buy a cow.” Four years and a 600-mile move later, they did, and now raise cows, Mangalista pigs, and goats along with making beautiful soaps and writing darling, farm-themed children’s books.
Pace Family Farms, owned and operated by the Pace family for generations, holds the mission of “sharing positive experiences and memories with our family on our farm like the generations before us while creating quality, local products”. They practice a method of farming called sustainable agriculture: using integrated pest management and minimal pesticides, they are committed to growing healthy and flavorful products while using the best farming practices. They are a family owned farm that has space for your family too; Taking Care of the Land and Taking Care of People
