Kudzu into Cream – Goat Petting and Kudzu Grazing with Kudzu Flavored Ice Cream

December 10, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

$30.00

A farm with sustainable efforts towards green burials and a heartfelt connection to nature…

In collaboration with Moss and Thistle:

This adorable and practical workshop is all about learning how a herd of goats can eliminate invasive kudzu with ease!

On top of that, you’ll get to spend time with those friendly little herbivores and even taste some Kudzu flavored ice cream, courtesy of C-Saw Hill, so you can get an idea of what these goats are munching on. It’s actually one of their most popular flavors!

This experience will be led by Sarah Lasswell: artist, farmer, and the driving force behind Moss and Thistle Farm. Sarah is a casket maker and willow weaver with a passion for green burials and a deep reverence for nature and ceremony. Not to mention she takes care of goats.

Throughout this afternoon, Sarah will walk you around the farm so you can see the before and after of a kudzu pasture and cleared area side-by-side while you meet and pet the goats. She will be teaching you some fascinating stuff about the life cycle of kudzu, how eradication works and doesn’t work, and a little bit about goat care and why goats are such a good method of eradication that uses no herbicide or chemical inputs.

Through her artistic vision and commitment to sustainability, Sarah’s work at Moss and Thistle farm weaves a legacy of eco-conscious stewardship and intentional farewells. Whether she is setting her goats on a patch of invasive plants or crafting exquisite willow caskets, she runs a farm that is constantly embracing the beauty of the natural world.
