Poetry like you’ve never heard it before…
In collaboration with CAM Raleigh:
Back and bigger for our second show, People-First Poetry is a monthly showcase of talented local artists. Our goal is to create an intimate and powerful environment where the focus is on the artists and creating an open dialogue with their audience.
Laugh, cry, and yell as 3 performances bring you into a world of heartfelt words, beautiful refrains, cutting rhymes and ultimately change your expectations around what poetry can be.
This show’s artists will be…
Antino Art – Antino writes ad copy to pay the rent and poetry for inner peace. When he hits the stage magic happens, sometimes literally as he is a man of many talents, and his words have made their published mark in places like the Heron Clan, Triangle Poetry, The Triangle Downtowner, and the Quercus Times. Visit AntinoArt.com for more.
Spoken Watson – Colin Watson, aka SpokenWatson, is a poet, storyteller, and prodigal philosopher. Weaving intricate narratives with raw emotional energy, Watson delivers spoken word like a fiery prophet of old. His theatrical performance style is captivating to both those familiar and brand new to spoken word. He’s currently writing a book of poetry entitled ‘Peace, Son of War’ aimed for late 2023.
Sarah Hoops – Sarah is a rapper, poet and artist native to NC that will inevitably charm you with her frank and funky delivery. She has had multiple features across the city including at City Soul Cafe and an EP release party at Taco Tuesday by Krystal Da Muse. She thrives off community and uses her gifts to inspire and impact others and show appreciation for all things love.
The show will be hosted by Krystal Da Muse, the hostest with the mostest, here to ensure a seamless and beautiful experience..
And by CAM Raleigh, a non-collecting contemporary art museum that provides an environment for transformation through educational programs, cultural experiences, and bold, non-traditional exhibitions by living artists. In sponsoring experiences like this, CAM is working to transform the artistic landscape of Raleigh by investing in more platforms for local artists with a powerful message.
