Journey through Sound – Live Music Meditation with Capital Moments

November 9, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

$20.00

Music is one of the unique mediums that can truly resonate with us physically, emotionally and artistically all at once…

In collaboration with Capital Moments:

This experience is a guided meditation and journey through a live-mixed soundscape. If you’re new to mediation or breathwork, music can be a great entry point to focus on! And for the more experienced, the organic nature of the live mixing can take a sense of presence and focus to new and profound places.

You will be guided by Donøvan Moran, creator of musical project Xylem and a self-taught musician of 15 years, performing on piano, guitar, bass, synthesizer, kalimba, native flute, charango, djembe, jaw harp, xylophone, and a variety of traditional instruments. He loves to take a classic approach of theory-based composition while bringing an intuitive and improvisational mindset to create ethereal and emotionally impactful sound journeys.

This is a multifaceted sensory experience that is delightfully easy to get lost in. When playing music, Donøvan likes to pull from the emotions most present in a person’s life at the time and then adjusts his style to encourage exploring both the challenging aspects of one’s life as well as remembering what relaxes us, surprises us, and brings us joy. At the end of the experience and throughout, he will explain some of his instrumentation, techniques, and equipment as a means of telling his own story and connecting people to an often unfamiliar craft.

In addition to the sound journey, the ticket for this experience includes entry to the Capital Moments Artistic Experience: a bi-weekly showcase of a local artists featuring live music and performances by poets, singers, musicians, comedians, and visual artists. Laugh, gasp, and sing along as you meet some great new people and hear some incredible art on stage.

*Make sure to bring a mat, towel, or blanket to sit/lay on
